The Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross Society (ABRCS) continued its impactful work in community development with two major wellness activities on November 19 and 20, reaffirming our commitment to dignity, care, and service to the most vulnerable.

On November 19, in collaboration with the Antigua & Barbuda Association for Persons with Disabilities (ABAPD), volunteers spent the day supporting food security and sustainable livelihoods at the ABAPD headquarters in Belmont.
Activities included aquaponics support, planting produce, fish farming (aquaculture), clearing shrubs, and preparing land and garden areas for cultivation.

These efforts directly strengthen ABAPD’s sustainable food production systems, enhancing independence and long-term resilience for persons with disabilities.
The day also coincided with International Men’s Day, adding a special layer of significance to the spirit of service.

Today, November 20, the ABRCS continued its humanitarian outreach with a Home Screening and Wellness Check-In, once again partnering with ABAPD to bring essential support directly to vulnerable individuals.
Building on the successful Community Health Screening held on October 22, the team will deliver blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol checks, along with wound care, hygiene support, and distribution of non-food items.

This outreach is expected to reach dozens of individuals with mobility, visual, and intellectual disabilities, many of whom rarely have access to routine healthcare – demonstrating the ABRCS’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that no one is left behind.
Together, we continue to build healthier, more resilient, and more inclusive communities.
