Dale C. S. Destin: Antigua experienced above-normal rainfall in January, yet meteorological drought conditions persist.

However, there is some good news—the drought has eased from moderate at the end of December to slight by the end of January.

With 80.5 mm (3.17 in) of rainfall, January 2025 was the second wettest since 2008 and the 26th wettest January on record, dating back to 1928.

Drought classification is based on rainfall over the past three months. For the November–January (NDJ) season, Antigua recorded 224.0 mm (8.82 in) of rainfall—right at the lower threshold for a slight meteorological drought.
