The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) considers rescheduling its planned evacuation drill at the National Performing Arts Centre after a maintenance issue disrupts the activity Tuesday morning.

Participants were involved in a dry run of the drill when fire personnel on scene noticed smoke inside the facility. Investigations revealed a fault with the air conditioning unit that was going through a testing phase. This caused smoke to enter the building.

A full evacuation was ordered, and the fire department called. No one was injured. The drill is in preparation for the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting scheduled for next week.
