On 13th January 2025, the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) hosted the opening ceremony of a Canadian-led Exercise Planning Course supported by the Regional Security System (RSS) at the Training-Building on Camp Blizard.

The event was attended by notable leaders, including Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier (Brig) Telbert Benjamin, Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodney, Canadian Defence attaché Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Kevin Barker, Canadian facilitators Lt Cols Stephen Hale, Daniel McNeil alongside Mr Clayton Purvis and RSS Headquarters Representative Lt Col Roberto Beltran.

Lt Col Beltran highlighted the value of collaboration in the ongoing training to address modern challenges. In his charge to the course participants, Brig Benjamin described the importance of the course as enhancing regional security and operational readiness and also forming the foundation in preparations for Tradewinds 2026.

With expert guidance from the Canadian facilitators supported by RSS facilitators, this training is expected to make a significant impact on the participants.
