At 200 AM CVT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Gonzalo was located near latitude 13.2 North, longitude 22.1 West. Gonzalo is moving toward the north-northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue over the next several days, with a slower forward speed this weekend.
On the forecast track, the center will pass near or over portions of the Cabo Verde Islands today and tonight. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts.
Some strengthening is possible today, with a gradual weakening trend forecast to begin this weekend. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).
