In accordance with the Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Act, No. 12 of 2008, the Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Control Board (PTCCB) is mandated to regulate the importation, storage, manufacture, sale, transportation, use and disposal of pesticides and toxic chemicals and for incidental and connected purposes. Its duties also include, but are not limited to, the granting or cancelling registrations, licences or permits.

The public is informed that all activities related to the importation, sale and use of pesticides and toxic chemical products are subject to review and approval by the PTCCB.

Failure to comply is an offence punishable by summary conviction with a fine not exceeding $25,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or both.

The general public is also reminded that all pesticides and toxic chemical products imported into Antigua and Barbuda must be registered and approved prior to importation.

To avoid detention or confiscation of consignments and prosecution, importers are urged to consult the PTCCB to ensure that all pesticides and toxic chemicals they intend to import are duly registered by the Board and that the requisite import licences are obtained before importation.
