Dale C. S. Destin | The latest update to the 268Weather 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season Forecast indicates a continued downward trend in the forecast for an above-normal season.

At this time, the forecast is still for an above-normal season, but this is becoming more and more unlikely, in favour of a near-to-below-normal season. Notwithstanding, the season is still capable of producing dangerous hurricanes that could be quite destructive.

The updated forecast now calls for:
- 14 named storms (down from 15),
- 6 hurricanes (unchanged),
- 3 major hurricanes (unchanged),
- and an Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) index of 109 (down from 124).
