The West Indies Oil Company (WIOC) is urging customers to look out for a new safety feature designed to protect households that rely on Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders.

The initiative introduces a tamper-evident red safety seal on full LPG cylinders to ensure customers receive safe, properly filled products. The red seal will serve as a clear indicator that a cylinder has been filled, inspected, and securely sealed before distribution.
The company says the measure is part of its ongoing commitment to improving safety standards and preventing unauthorized tampering with LPG cylinders.

“Red Seal = Full Cylinder = Safe Home,” the company stated while announcing the initiative, emphasizing that customers should always verify the seal before accepting a cylinder delivery.
Consumers should check for the official WIOC tamper-evident red seal when receiving LPG cylinders. Cylinders that arrive without the seal may have been tampered with or improperly handled.

If customers notice a missing seal, they are encouraged not to accept the cylinder and to immediately report the issue to WIOC or their LPG distributor.
The company believes the added layer of verification will help increase confidence among households while strengthening safety practices across the LPG distribution chain.

Residents are reminded that a simple check can make a big difference in protecting their homes and families.
This rollout of the tamper-evident seals forms part of broader effort to promote safer energy use and encourage greater awareness among customers who depend on LPG for cooking and household needs.
