STATE MEDIA: A woman, believed to be in her 40s, was crushed to death by the wheel of a truck during Labour Day activities on Monday, 5th May, 2025.

The incident happened shortly before 4pm near Fort James Beach. Initial reports are that the woman was trying to get onto the truck and slipped, leading to the tragic incident.

The Emergency Medical Services, who were in the vicinity, responded within two minutes, but the woman had sustained severe injuries to her upper body and died at the scene.
Her son, who was with her, has been traumatized by the incident. This was the second truck mishap for the afternoon.

A woman had earlier sustained severe injuries to the lower part of one of her legs, also from the wheel of a truck.
The EMS has been kept busy throughout the day responding to several medical injuries.
