Out of an abundance of caution, the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre Laboratory (SLBMC) has temporarily suspended outpatient services due to a minor chemical spill within the laboratory.

The lab has been evacuated and efforts are being made to clean the affected area.

At this time no injuries have been reported and admitted hospital patients and other staff have not been impacted.

The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre will continue to monitor the matter to ensure the sustained safety and health of our patients and staff.
