GOVERNMENT OF ST LUCIA – The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) in collaboration with the Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project (DVRP), Business Tech Research Inc. and Imagine Solutions Inc. hosted training sessions for the new Disaster Management Information System (DIMS).

DIMS is a digital platform purposed with enhancing NEMO’s ability to collect, store, access and analyse data in disaster management.

Accessibility to this data will save time in disaster management and save lives in the event of natural disasters.

The new platform will allow users of the platform to perform various functions. Community leaders, fire service staff and other disaster management stakeholders will have access to the platform and its data.

The platform;

  • Allows users to assign NEMO and Disaster Management staff/volunteers to incidents based on their skills.
  • Contains a registry of disaster volunteers and disaster management staff with various skills.
  • Maintains a registry of disaster volunteers.
  • Manages an incident registry.
  • Manages and determines training needs.

The training occurred from Tuesday, February 14, 2023, to Friday, February 17, 2023.
