The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC) is currently transitioning to a new system of automatic earthquake alerts.

The tests, followers have recently seen posted to their Facebook and Twitter accounts display real earthquakes that have been generated using the new system.

Some of these are outside of the magnitude threshold (Mt3.8 ) that is usually posted i.e. earthquakes smaller than Mt3.8 may have been posted during the test period.

This has resulted in more earthquake posts than usual. This does not necessarily indicate an increase in seismic (earthquake) activity in the Eastern Caribbean.
