The Paediatric Department of the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) in its latest publication about Hand Foot and Mouth Disease warns that HFMD can be contracted more than once. Why? Remember that HFMD is caused by several viruses.

It further advises to please take the necessary steps to keep your child safe:

• Wash your hands.

• Clean your surfaces,

• Keep your child/children home once ill.

• Be vigilant.

Lastly, verify with your child’s school if a medical letter of clearance is needed for your child to return to school. Together we can do this.
