Another important milestone has been reached in the rehabilitation of the airfield at the V.C. Bird International.

We have successfully transitioned from the legacy Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) system to a new LED system.

The switchover involved the integration, testing, verification and operational commissioning of multiple components of the aerodrome lighting and visual aids system, including the following:

• Approach Lighting System

• Runway Threshold Identification Lights

• Runway Edge and End Lights

• Runway Turn Pad Lights

• Precision Approach Path Indicators (PAPI)

•Wind Indicators

• Mandatory Instruction and Information Signs

• VOR Aerodrome Checkpoint Sign

• Runway Guard Lights

• Solar-Powered Taxiway Edge Lights

Our technical team, through a process of testing and verification, ensured the system is safe, reliable, compliant and ready to support aircraft operations.

We are certainly proud of everyone involved in this phase of the project as we proceed with the rehabilitation and modernisation of our airfield and the VC Bird International in general.
