Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA): The CDEMA Coordinating Unit is represented in Willemstad, Curaçao, for the Second Tsunami Ready Recognition Programme (TRRP) Summit and the Nineteenth Session of the ICG/CARIBE-EWS, held from 22–24 April 2026.

These regional engagements bring together National Disaster Offices, tsunami focal points, scientific institutions, UNESCO-IOC, UNDRR, and other partners to advance tsunami preparedness, early warning, and coastal hazard resilience across the Caribbean and adjacent regions.

The TRRP Summit focuses on building the capacity of national authorities to guide communities toward achieving “Tsunami Ready” recognition—an essential step in reducing risk and saving lives.

Key areas of focus include:
• Assessing regional progress of the TRRP within CARIBE-EWS
• Reviewing methodologies for identifying tsunami-risk communities
• Strengthening warning dissemination, preparedness, and response capabilities
• Advancing CARIBE WAVE exercises and community readiness
• Ensuring inclusive implementation for persons with disabilities, youth, women, and migrant populations
• Strengthening synergies with regional and global early warning frameworks
• Developing actionable recommendations to guide TRRP implementation in the short to medium term

Through collaboration, innovation, and inclusive planning, the region continues to move closer to a future where at-risk communities are empowered, prepared, and recognized as Tsunami Ready.
