Dale C. S. Destin – Published 01 December 2025: The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season officially ran from June 1 to November 30. As it closed less than 24 hours ago, the season ended up near normal by the 268Weather assessment, based on the current World Meteorological Organization (WMO) standard climate period of 1991 to 2020:

- 13 named storms formed — near normal.
- 5 hurricanes developed — near normal.
- 4 major hurricanes (Category 3+) occurred — also near normal.
- The season’s Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) was ~132.5 units, likewise near normal.
- The strongest system, Hurricane Melissa, reached 185 mph with a central pressure of 892 mb, tying the record for the most intense Atlantic hurricane at landfall.
- Of the approximately US$10.555 billion in total damage for the season, ~US$9 billion was caused by Melissa in Jamaica.
- The season resulted in 132 deaths, 102 of which were attributed to Melissa, including 54 in Jamaica and 43 in Haiti. Around 29 people are missing.

Antigua and Barbuda’s Experience : Despite the overall near-normal character of the season, Antigua and Barbuda was impacted by Tropical Storm Jerry. Parts of Antigua recorded peak sustained winds of 45 mph, Barbuda 43 mph, with gusts to around 60 mph.

Although Jerry was a minimal storm, it delivered a significant rainfall event, dropping 83 to 238 mm (3.3 to 9.4 inches) across Antigua — with 85–100% of that rain falling between the night of October 9 and the morning of October 10.
