The Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF) advises the public that, under new regulations for the 56th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2026, operation of unregistered Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems, commonly known as drones, will be prohibited from October 26 to November 8, 2026.

All Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems in Antigua & Barbuda are to be registered with the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) under the Civil Aviation (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems) (RPAS) (CHOGM) Regulations 2026.

Persons seeking to operate drones during this period must comply with all registration and flight approval requirements. Registration alone does not authorise a flight; prior approval from Air Traffic Services is also required.
Drone operators are encouraged to visit the ECCAA’s official website for the Application Form and relevant regulations. Applications to be submitted via email at “drones@eccaa.aero”.

The ABDF urges the public to comply with these measures as part of the national security arrangements for CHOGM 2026. Unauthorised drone operations may result in enforcement action. in accordance with applicable laws. The ABDF thanks the public for its cooperation and support in ensuring a safe and secure CHOGM.
