The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service (ABMS) deployed three buoys around Antigua and Barbuda. Unfortunately, over the weekend, one of the buoys went missing. It has since been located on Barbuda and retrieved virtually intact.

They are therefore appealing to all mariners and other persons who may encounter these buoys to treat them as an important national asset. The data they collect are critical to improving our understanding of marine conditions and strengthening the accuracy and reliability of weather and marine forecasts, ultimately helping to improve safety at sea.

These buoys are designed to operate in the marine environment and should not be moved, tampered with, or interfered with. If you encounter one, please leave it undisturbed and report any concerns or unusual activity to the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service.

These buoys are there to serve us and to help keep us safe. Please help us protect them so they can continue to provide the data on which better forecasts and warnings depend.
