The Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Fisheries & the Blue Economy wishes to remind the general public that the restriction on the importation of all pork and pork products from the Dominican Republic remains in effect.

This restriction was implemented in response to the presence of African Swine Fever (ASF), a highly contagious and potentially fatal disease affecting pigs. The restriction has been in place since 2021 and remains ongoing.

The restriction applies to all persons and businesses, including:

• Wholesale distributors;

• Shop and supermarket owners;

• Restaurant and cookshop operators; and

• Consumers.

The Veterinary and Livestock Division is appealing to the public for its continued cooperation in helping to prevent the introduction and spread of this deadly disease into Antigua and Barbuda.

Members of the public are therefore urged to refrain from importing, purchasing, selling, distributing, or consuming prohibited pork and pork products originating from the Dominican Republic.
