TROPICAL CYCLONE INFORMATION STATEMENT (AL92)
ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES

The area of disturbed weather (al92) that we have been monitoring has been impacted by hostile atmospheric conditions and development into a tropical cyclone is unlikely.

As a result, the Tropical cyclone alert for the Leewards and BVI has been discontinued and tropical cyclone watches and warnings are not necessary at this time.

The disturbance is forecast to move west to west-northwestwards over the next 24-36 hours bringing an increase chance of showers and gusty winds to the Leewards and BVI.

Rainfall accumulation between 0.5 to 2.0 inches is possible during the passage which could produce minor flooding in low lying areas.

Wind gusts of up to 65 km/h or 40 mph are also possible. These winds will cause a deterioration in marine conditions where seas are likely to peak between 8 to 12 ft; hence, a high wind advisory and a small craft warning will to go into effect 5 pm today.

Residents are advised to secure loose, light objects, and mariners are advised to remain in port. The met office will continue to monitor the conditions and issue additional updates when necessary
