The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service has issued a Heat Warning for Antigua and Barbuda.

Feels-like temperatures could reach up to 45°C (115°F) as light winds and high humidity create dangerously hot conditions.

Those most at risk include:

• Older adults

• Young children

• People with heart, breathing, or other chronic health conditions

• Outdoor workers and those exercising in the heat

• Homeless and vulnerable individuals

Protect Yourself:

• Drink plenty of water.

• Wear light, loose-fitting clothing.

• Stay in the shade or air-conditioned spaces whenever possible.

• Avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.

• Check on elderly relatives, neighbours and other vulnerable persons.

Know the warning signs:

Dizziness, headache, nausea, rapid heartbeat, confusion or loss of consciousness may indicate a serious heat illness. Call 911 immediately if someone shows signs of heat stroke.

Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay weather aware.
