PRICES AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS DIVISION: Please be reminded that anyone considering hosting a competition or promotional activity for Valentine’s Day or any future promotion is required to submit an application for approval to the Consumer Affairs Division. This includes all giveaways, raffles, and promotional draws.

Applications should be submitted at least two (2) weeks in advance of the intended start date to allow adequate time for review and approval, as approval must be granted prior to the commencement of any promotional activity.

Applications may be submitted via email to consumer.promotions@ab.gov.ag, and inquiries can be made by calling 268-462-4347.

  1. I hope that they actively scan Social Media for promotions to check against their list of registrations.

    Also, how can person’s report any promotion that seems to be illegitimate?

    Agencies like these need to do more intensive educational campaigns in the media. Consumer rights and protection, and merchant responsibility are very serious matters. Many merchants are not aware of, or deliberately flout rules and laws with impunity. They also get away with it because consumers don’t know their rights.
