Preliminary Earthquake Parameters:
• Magnitude: 8.0
• Origin Time and Date: 7:23 pm AST (2323 UTC) February 08, 2025
• Coordinates: [17.8°] North, [82.5°] West
• Depth: 33 km/20 miles
• Location: North of Honduras

Evaluation: An earthquake with a preliminary Magnitude of 8.0 occurred north of Honduras at 7:23 pm on Saturday, February 08, 2025
Based on all available data, there is no significant tsunami threat from this earthquake to Antigua and Barbuda. However, there is a very small possibility of tsunami waves along the Caribbean coasts located nearest the epicentre.

• No action required.
• Stay Updated – We advise the public to stay informed by following updates from the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service and other official channels.
• Preparedness Reminder – While there is no immediate risk, this is a good time to review your tsunami evacuation plans and ensure familiarity with designated safe areas, especially if you are in coastal zones.
