WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME (WFP) – On Monday 17th April 2023, Minister of Home Affairs and Information Wilfred Abrahams joined our country director Regis Chapman at the site where the Caribbean Logistics Hub is being built in Barbados.

Strategically located adjacent to the Grantley Adams International Airport the facility will provide warehousing and training solutions designed to enhance Caribbean emergency preparedness and provide a facility from which large-scale humanitarian responses could be launched.

The warehouse will allow for National Departments for Emergency Management. National key stakeholders and emergency responders, regional and international organizations to access space to preposition emergency response stocks, tools and equipment in the Caribbean.

With a predicted increase in hurricane activity in the region, WFP is collaborating with national and regional emergency response agencies to ensure the availability of assets in the region for responding in times of crisis.

Construction of the facility is made possible with support from the Government of Canada, European Union and USAID Bureau of Humanitarian Assistance.
