Central Board of Health (CBH) – Due to heavy rainfalls in Barbuda on November 7th, 2022 quite a number of catchment areas were filled which resulted in the proliferation of mosquito breeding sites.

Through an invite by the Barbuda Council, staff from the Vector Control Unit in Antigua travelled to Barbuda to work along with the Barbuda Team to conduct an intensive 4-day mosquito control operation.

During the 4-day period, various water catchments including ponds, maul holes, wells and cisterns were treated with larvicides and guppies to reduce the larvae and pupae count.

In addition, adulticides were used to reduce the abundance of adult mosquitoes which plagued the residents in Barbuda.
