…Flash Flood Advisory for Minor Flooding in Effect for Antigua until Later Today…

The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service have issued a flash flood advisory for minor flooding of flash-flood-prone areas of Antigua and Barbuda. Prepare for the possibility of moderate flooding or worse.

Timing: Until 4 pm today.

Synopsis: Radar and satellite images continue to show moisture streaming into the area as a result of the proximity of Tropical Storm Fiona. Rainfall rates of greater than 40 mm (over 1.60 in) per hour will cause minor flash flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas.

Streams, creeks and drains may be elevated or even overflow into streets and flash-flood-prone areas. Additionally, a flash flood watch is in effect for the possibility of moderate flooding or worse.

Potential Impacts: Little.

Precautionary/preparedness actions: A flash flood advisory means that streams, creeks and drains may be elevated or even overflowing into streets and flood-prone areas; however, property damage, if any, will be minimal.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. Report severe weather to the Met Office.
