Antigua Barbuda Department of Environment (ABDE)- It was a Proud moment for St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church as they officially opened their Community Shelter and Diocesan Home for the Elderly.
This was made possible through the Project “An integrated approach to physical adaptation and community resilience in the Antigua and Barbuda northwest McKinnon’s watershed”, also known as the AF project.
This project is being implemented by the Department of Environment with support from the Adaptation Fund.
The Church received EC $806,460.00 (US $300,000) for interventions that include reinforcement and strengthening of the roof, windows and doors.
The installation of a wheelchair ramp, the installation of a solar energy system with battery backup, the construction of a water catchment, and the installation of energy-efficient air conditioning units.
