The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) in a statement says that the fire at the Cooks Sanitary Landfill is presently under control.

The statement further reads that burning areas have been sectioned off and are being covered with topsoil to deprive it of any remaining oxygen. (Oxygen is one of the main components required to sustain a fire)
Unfortunately, surrounding areas such as Five Islands will still experience some residual smoke over the next few days until everything has dissipated.
