ABS TELEVISION/RADIO – Thirty passengers on the Barbuda Express are now being taken from the vessel and transported to the sister isle via an Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard vessel.

The passenger transfer on the high seas is being done after the Barbuda Express developed engine trouble while en route from the mainland to the sister isle earlier today.

The evacuation of the passengers is being done on the high seas about seven miles off Barbuda. The Coast Guard has assured all passengers and crew on the stricken vessel are safe.

Efforts were being made to transfer the passengers to the Barbuda Express’ sister vessel, Typhoon Express, but those plans had to be aborted because of the height of the Typhoon Express.
