APUA, Wednesday 29 July 2026: Repairs have commenced on the transmission tower located in Pigotts, where our teams are working to replace a damaged lightning arrester.

To safely facilitate the repairs, some customers experienced a brief interruption to their electricity supply this morning while feeders were transferred to alternative circuits.

APUA also engaged several commercial customers to utilise their backup systems temporarily to help reduce demand on the electricity system during the work.

As the Reverse Osmosis Plants require a significant amount of electricity to operate, the Barnacle Point and Ffryes facilities were also asked to suspend operations temporarily to further reduce demand on the system. Water production from these facilities will remain unavailable until the repairs are completed.

The work is expected to be completed before midday. Once completed, the earlier switching will be reversed, and affected customers may experience another brief interruption of approximately 15 to 20 minutes as feeders are returned to their normal circuits.
