The APUA Electricity Business Unit has located and isolated one of two faults identified along the 69 kV transmission network.

The 69 kV transmission lines carry electricity at 69,000 volts from the power station to substations across the island.
A fault or sudden interruption along one of these major transmission lines can create a significant disturbance on the electricity system and result in a widespread outage such as the one experienced this evening.

With the first fault now isolated, power will be restored gradually to some areas as feeders are re-energised in stages. Assessments are continuing to locate and isolate the second fault, which must be addressed before full restoration of the system can be achieved.

Customers may therefore see electricity return at different times as the restoration process continues.
We apologise for the delay in providing this update as the situation continues to develop. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
