The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) is closely monitoring a reported hantavirus outbreak linked to cruise ship travel and has issued a Watching Brief to support Member States with timely public health guidance.
While the current risk to the Caribbean is considered low, CARPHA continues to encourage vigilance through strengthened vessel surveillance, rodent control, sanitation measures, and early reporting systems.

Through tools such as the Caribbean Vessel Surveillance System (CVSS), CARPHA supports Member States in the early detection of potential public health threats aboard vessels, helping to protect both residents and visitors across the Region.
