Antigua and Barbuda has intensified preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) as the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force (ABDF), alongside the National CHOGM Taskforce and international partners, leads focused security and operational planning initiatives.

A two-week Policy Development Conference, delivered in collaboration with the Canadian Joint Operations Command, brings together a whole-of-government team to strengthen coordination, develop the national Operations Order, and establish standard operating procedures for the National Joint Operations Centre.

The training equips agencies with the tools needed to ensure a safe, seamless, and well-coordinated summit.

Additional specialized security and operational sessions are being conducted at Camp Blizzard with Canadian experts.

Officials note that the hands-on training will not only prepare the nation to host CHOGM 2026 successfully, but will also leave a lasting legacy of improved readiness, inter-agency collaboration, and national resilience.
