ST JOHNS ANTIGUA, 18th November 2025: The Antigua Public Utilities Authority wishes to sincerely apologise to our valued customers in Barbuda for the prolonged loss of electricity supply experienced this afternoon and evening, Tuesday 18 November 2025.
The interruption is the result of a mechanical issue with one of the generators at the Barbuda Power Plant, which has significantly reduced our overall generation capacity.

Our team is currently carrying out repairs to the generator with the aim of bringing it back online tomorrow.
During daylight hours, the Green Barbuda Solar Hybrid Plant provides sufficient energy to support customers across the island.

However, once afternoon and evening demand increases, the reduced generation capacity forces us to implement a load shedding cycle of up to four hours. This cycle will remain in effect until the generator is restored.
APUA is working steadily to address the issue and restore service as soon as possible. We understand the inconvenience this has caused and sincerely regret the disruption. We solicit your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this matter.
