ST JOHNS ANTIGUA, 5th November 2025 – The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has deployed a team to Jamaica to assist the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) with restoration and rebuilding efforts following the passage of Hurricane
Melissa.

The team, led by Supervisor Kelvin Tanner and Foreman Sean Spencer, includes Lineworkers Wamani Grayman, Jamany Anthony, and Shoy Matthew.

They are expected to be stationed in Jamaica for at least one month, lending their technical expertise to help restore power and rebuild affected communities.

This deployment forms part of the CARILEC Disaster Assistance Programme, which unites member utilities and regional contractors across the Caribbean to provide coordinated, hands-on support in the aftermath of natural disasters.

Electricity Business Unit Manager, Mr. Andre Matthias, commended the team for their willingness to serve, emphasising the importance of safety and professionalism throughout the assignment.

“We deeply appreciate our team’s readiness to assist our regional counterparts in this critical time. As they represent APUA and Antigua and Barbuda, I urge them to keep safety as their
highest priority and to apply the best practices and techniques acquired through their training.” Mr. Matthias said.
