Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH): During the recent 2025 Wet and Hurricane Season Caribbean Climate Outlook Forum (CariCOF), Dr. Cedric Van Meerbeeck of CIMH presented a regional outlook that signals an active and potentially dangerous hurricane season.

Up to 19 named storms are possible, with a higher risk of rapid intensification and early-season activity.
He also warned that the Caribbean is entering another intense heat season, with elevated night and daytime temperatures and more frequent heatwaves.

This could worsen chronic illnesses, reduce learning and work performance, and increase the demand for energy.
Dr. Van Meerbeeck stressed that heat is now one of the most dangerous climate hazards in the region, and emphasized that early preparation and public awareness are essential.

This event was made possible with support from the @intraacpclimsa Programme in partnership with @EUinBarbadosandtheEasternCaribbean.
