The Dive Alert Network (DAN) facilitated Hyperbaric Chamber certification and recertification training, on site at SLBMC.
This training was provided to healthcare professionals, to include Physicians, Nurses and members of the Emergency Medical Team.
A total of 7 physicians and nurses alongside 4 EMTs received their recertifications while an additional 8 healthcare professionals participated in the full course and earned their certification.
The hyperbaric chamber is a state-of-the-art medical apparatus that offers advanced treatment options for various medical conditions.
The chambers are most associated with treating divers with decompression sickness -bends – if they surface too quickly. However, the chamber provides treatment for carbon monoxide poisoning and also capability for wound care therapy.
