The Caribbean Community Implementation Agency for Crime and Security is warning the public about a growing surge in sophisticated scams targeting WhatsApp users across the Region.

Criminals are increasingly impersonating trusted individuals—such as delivery agents, customer support representatives, or even personal friends—to deceive users into revealing their six‑digit WhatsApp verification codes.

Once this code is shared, scammers can immediately take control of the account, locking out the rightful owner. They then pose as the victim, reaching out to their contacts to send phishing links or request money under false pretenses.

CARICOM IMPACS urges everyone to stay vigilant and take proactive steps to secure their accounts:

• Never share your WhatsApp verification code with anyone.

• Enable two-step verification for added protection.

• Verify suspicious messages through another communication channel.
