The Regional CARICOM Disaster Relief Unit (CDRU) Training & Exercise 2026, was held in the Virgin Islands from February 22 – March 2, 2026, and included 16 local BVI participants from the Royal BVI Police and Fire Forces, alongside 15 regional participants, who took part in the knowledge-focused sessions and practical training sessions.

Facilitated by CDEMA regional specialists in logistics, telecommunications, structural engineering, preparedness and response, and supported by the Regional Security System (RSS), participants strengthened their understanding of CDRU operational orders, regional relief and logistics mechanisms, deployment procedures, and emergency telecommunications systems.

These sessions form a critical foundation in preparing trained members of the disciplined forces to serve as part of a CDRU contingent for regional emergency response during the 2026–2027 period.
