On February 24, 2026, the Central Board of Health (CBH) successfully facilitated a comprehensive training session aimed at strengthening the capacity of custodians and groundsmen across multiple institutions.

A total of 40 participants attended, including custodial and grounds staff from Muriel O’Mard Campus (MOC), Dr. Alister Francis Campus (AFC), Eustace Hill Campus (EHC), the School of Agriculture, as well as custodians from the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS), National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), and the Environment Division. The training was hosted by the Antigua and Barbuda College of Advanced Studies (ABCAS).

Participants received practical guidance on essential topics including:
• Cleaning and sanitizing techniques
• Pest control practices
• Waste management and sanitation practices
• Safe and effective use of chemicals
• Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

This initiative highlights the vital role custodians and groundsmen play in maintaining safe, healthy environments.
Proper cleaning and disinfection are critical in preventing the spread of germs, reducing pest infestations, and protecting the health of staff, students, and the wider community.

Clean school plants and workplaces are not just about appearance—they are foundational to public health, productivity, and overall well-being.
The Central Board of Health remains committed to supporting frontline workers through continued training and capacity-building initiatives.
