ST. GEORGE, 27th December, 2025…The Antigua and Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) will be leading a major aviation security exercise at the VC Bird International Airport on Monday 29 December from 9am until 12 noon.
The exercise will be held in collaboration with the National Office for Disaster Services (NODS), and involve multiple partners to include the Antigua and Barbuda Defence
Force (ABDF), the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda (RPFAB), the Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and all key airport stakeholders.

It forms part of an ongoing effort to strengthen the airport’s emergency response procedures in line with both national emergency operating standards and international aviation requirements.
Members of the travelling public and residents of nearby communities should be aware that the airport will continue normal operations despite the increased presence of emergency vehicles as well as law enforcement and emergency personnel on the airfield and adjacent roads.

As part of the simulation exercise, actors will be playing the roles of injured passengers in realistic emergency scenarios. The public is assured this is only a drill and NOT an actual emergency.
Additionally, flights into the VC Bird International Airport will not be delayed or interrupted by the exercise and travelers are asked to proceed with their normal preparations.

The Airport Authority wishes to express its appreciation to the public for their understanding and to all participating agencies and stakeholders for their continued commitment to aviation safety and security in Antigua and Barbuda.
