The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP) and international development partners, on Wednesday, October 29th, mobilized and dispatched relief supplies from the Regional Caribbean Logistics Hub to support Jamaica in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.

A coordinated regional operation was carried out at the Bridgetown Port, where the French military vessel Le Dumont D’Urville was loaded with humanitarian aid bound for Jamaica.

This joint effort brought together partners including the French Armed Forces, European Union, Government of Canada, United Kingdom’s Armed Forces, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) under CDEMA’s Regional Response Mechanism (RRM).

The shipment contained essential emergency supplies to reinforce national relief operations led by Jamaica’s Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM).
