Dale C. S. Destin: Tropical Storm Jerry brought significant rainfall to Antigua during the second week of October. This marked a dramatic turn in what had been a months-long dry spell.

Over just three days, Jerry produced totals ranging from 83 to 238 mm (3.3 to 9.4 in) — with 85 to 100% of that rainfall occurring on the night of October 9 into the morning of October 10.

The End of a Four-Month Drought
Just a week later, an unusually early cold front pushed into the area, sealing the drought’s fate.

The front’s prefrontal trough brought an additional 38 to 114 mm (1.5 to 4.5 in) of rainfall, most of which fell on October 16, effectively bringing an end to the serious drought that had persisted for four months.
