National Office of Disdaster Services (NODS): It was all about the secondary school students on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, as part of our week of activities marking International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, celebrated each year on October 13.

Twenty young people from ten secondary schools took part in our Youth in Disaster Management Training. We had a lively discussion on hazards and disasters and the effects these can have on individuals, especially young people, considering there might be a loss of electricity and internet for an extended period, even months.

The students also engaged in a session on telecommunications, the use of VHF radios, which are very useful in times of disasters and were given a challenge to erect a tent, highlighting the importance of teamwork even with persons they are meeting for the first time.
