Update #1 on Unplanned Outage Friars Hill North Feeder
Wednesday, 9th October, 2025
On Tuesday, October 8, 2025, at approximately 9:50 p.m., the Friars Hill North Feeder experienced an unplanned outage after tripping offline. APUA line workers were immediately dispatched, and initial assessments identified a cable fault near the front of the feeder.

This section of the feeder is underground and has three main exit points. To minimise the duration of the outage, customers on the Friars Hill North Feeder were temporarily shifted to two alternative feeders. This shifting or switching process is a delicate operation that requires brief interruptions of power to customers on the supporting feeders.
Areas affected by the Friars Hill North Feeder outage include: Friars Hill Road (North), Dunbars, Cedar Valley, Golf Course, McKinnon’s, Halcyon, Blue Waters, Marble Hill, Paradise View, Sandals North, Sandpiper, Crosbies, and Longfords.

Supporting feeders include:
Cassada Gardens #3
Utility Drive, New Winthropes, Cedar Valley Gardens, Cedar Valley Springs, Barnes Hill, Powells, Hodges Bay, Cedar Grove
Cassada Gardens #7. Longfords East, Mount Pleasant
Friars Hill West
Fort Road, Yorks, Anchorage Road, Sandals (South), Casino Riviera, Blackburn Park, Shoprite, Fort James, Dry Hill, Lashings, Old Runaway, Villa North, Dickenson Bay.

As of Wednesday morning, October 9, APUA line workers and technicians are actively assessing and working to fully resolve the fault. During this process, customers may experience temporary power interruptions.
The APUA Electricity Business Unit sincerely apologises to all affected customers for this unforeseen incident and thanks the public for their patience, support, and understanding as restoration efforts continue.

Update #2 on Friars Hill North Feeder Outage
The fault on the Friars Hill North Feeder has been identified and isolated. To restore the system to its normal configuration, the North Feeder will be reconnected to its original circuit and separated from the temporary supporting feeders.

Customers are advised that a temporary loss of power will occur during the switching process as our team completes this restoration exercise.
The APUA Electricity Business Unit appreciates the continued patience and understanding of all affected customers as we work to safely restore normal service.
