The Department of Environment is pleased to announce the registration process for hurricane shutters aimed at supporting pensioners and low-income households in strengthening their resilience ahead of the hurricane season.

As part of this initiative, low-income homes will receive three (3) polycarbonate sheets free of charge, while additional sheets may be purchased at a subsidized cost of $62.50 per sheet, with a maximum of six (6) sheets per household.

Registration will take place on the 13th and 20th September 2025, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Department of Environment.
The polycarbonate sheets measure 6.8’ x 8’ and are available in a variety of colours including Transparent, White, Blue, Grey, Yellow, Orange, Red, and Green.

To register, applicants must present the following:
• A valid Government-issued ID
• A letter verifying Low-Income status from Cabinet, a Parliamentarian, Pastor, or Social Services
• Pensioner’s Card (for retirees)
• A copy of their electricity bill (printed or digital)
• Window measurements (if cutting services are required)
• Personal transportation to collect sheets

The Department of Environment encourages all eligible pensioners and low-income households to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance their hurricane preparedness.
