ST. GEORGE, 4 September, 2025…The Antigua and Barbuda
Airport Authority (ABAA) wishes to advise members of the travelling public that the primary x-ray baggage screening machines at the V.C. Bird International Airport are temporarily unserviceable.

As a result, we have resorted to alternative arrangements to ensure that our security screening protocols remain fully operational.

Therefore, all checked luggage will be processed through our secondary baggage screening machine called oversized baggage screening, located east of check-in counter 25.

To avoid any delays, passengers should allow additional time for the check-in process during what will be a temporary arrangement until a service technician from the manufacturer completes his assessment and repairs.

The technician is scheduled to arrive on island on Friday 05 September, and we anticipate normal operations will resume shortly thereafter.

The Airport Authority apologizes for any inconvenience this temporary adjustment may cause and appreciates the patience and understanding from members of the public and all our airport stakeholders.

The safety and security of all travelers and users of the VC Bird International remain our highest priority, and these measures ensure we maintain rigorous screening standards in compliance with international aviation standards.
