STATE MEDIA: The Fire Department is investigating the cause of a major explosion at a home in Hodges Bay on Saturday morning.

There was extensive damage to the home, as parts of the roof were blown off and landed on nearby properties.

The explosion also resulted in a fire at the home, which was later extinguished by firefighters who were quickly on the scene.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as the occupants of the home had all been away at the time of the incident.

Fire Chief, Assistant Commissioner of Police Vivian Parker, says this was the first time the brigade was responding to an explosion of this magnitude at a home.

The house, which has been a landmark in the area for years, was insured.
