In the spirit of love and unity, we, the Antigua Christian Council, feel compelled to address the heart-wrenching tragedy that has recently befallen our beloved nation.

The senseless killing of Chantel Crump, along with the numerous unsolved murders and the heartache of countless missing persons, weighs heavily on our collective conscience.

These acts of violence are not merely statistics; they represent lives cut short, families shattered, and communities left in despair. We stand united in our condemnation of these heinous acts.

Each loss is a profound tragedy that underscores the urgent need for change within our society. Violence begets violence, and in order to break this cycle, we must first look inward.

We call upon every citizen of Antigua and Barbuda to engage in a period of reflection and repentance. It is time to renew our commitment to the values of love, respect, and compassion that are foundational to our communities.

Let us not be consumed by anger or fear, but rather let this moment serve as a catalyst for transformation. We urge our leaders to prioritise the safety and well-being of all citizens, to seek justice for those who have suffered, and to ensure that no family is left to grieve in silence.

Law enforcement agencies must be supported and empowered to solve these cases, while also fostering a spirit of trust and collaboration with the community.

Furthermore, we appeal to the hearts of our citizens: let us stand together against the tide of violence. We must foster dialogue, understanding, and support for one another.

It is only through a collective effort that we can heal the wounds that plague our nation and restore hope for a brighter future.
In this time of sorrow, we also recognise the resilience of our people.

Together, let us be the change we wish to see, embodying the principles of peace and justice in our everyday lives. May we honour the memory of those we have lost by striving to create a safer, more loving Antigua and Barbuda for generations to come.

In faith and hope,

Bonnie E.B.W. Smith (Rev. Dr.)
President
