ABS Television/Radio: The Government’s newest initiative to tackle loitering in public spaces is now part of the law of the land.

Attorney General and Public Safety Minister, Hon. Sir Steadroy Benjamin confirms that the curfew for minors, running from 10 pm to 6 am, is officially in effect.

It’s one of the amendments to the Small Charges Act that Parliament passed last month. Under these changes, parents will face fines up to XCD$5,000.00 if their children violate the curfew.

The legislation targets youth loitering as part of a wider effort to tackle violent crime and anti-social behaviour among young people.

The curfew, along with several other hard-hitting laws, became official October 1 when they were published in the Gazette.
